About the Treat Group for People Who Compulsively Hoard and Clutter

The ICHC held its first 16-week hoarding and cluttering treatment group in 2008. This was the first compulsive hoarding treatment group that has been made available to residents of San Francisco.

This treatment group was unique from our weekly support group in that it was led by a clinician, Judy Hirsch of Family Service Agency of San Francisco, and was made up of participants who are committed to make a change in their compulsive hoarding behavior. Each participant was committed to attend each of the 16 weeks and was prepared to complete weekly homework assignments, in the effort to decrease their hoarding behaviors, while limiting the amount of clutter in the home. The intake process is to determine eligibility and level of motivation for change. If you are interested in participating in any future treatment groups that may be scheduled, please call Jon-David Settell of Family Service Agency of San Francisco at (415) 474-7310, ext. 423.
